Fortunately for me, Christopher Nolan's latest outing is a slight return to form after the highly over-rated and confused 'The Dark Night'.
DiCaprio plays Cobb, a 'dream' exploiting misfit on the run from the authorities having been accused of killing his wife Mal (Coutillard). Desperate to see his children again, of whom he has an eerie memory of just the back of their heads, Cobb decides to undertake a very dangerous job from business man Saito (Watanabe) of implanting a false 'idea' into rival business man Fisher's (Murphy) mind to alter certain memories, and thus affecting Fisher's future decisions allowing Saito to monopolise. In return, Saito will make all of Cobb's problems go away.
Complex and moody, Nolan's mind-gimmick of a film is an enjoyable romp but like all of Nolan's film, a bit too long. Strong performances from a cracking cast are duly noted with Dicaprio, Tom Hardy and Watanabe standing out from the crowd, looking like the bankable stalwarts we know and appreciate.
If you're after a thrill in the cinema with tense fast paced action and an intriguing plot look no further as this is arguably one of the best films of the year; but considering the majority of tripe we've had so far, that wouldn't be to difficult.
Still not as good as The Prestige, but at least he didn't cast his bum-boy: the ever-vacuous turd bag known as Christian 'I'm Batmaaaaan!' Bale.
